Traveling to Costa Rica

When traveling out the country there are some basic things you must know. Since this is an information site about Costa Rica I put together a list of things you need to know ranging from packing to your ‘to do’ list.

First of all, you need your passport. It use to be ok to have a drivers license as proof, but now a passport is required. If you are traveling with multiple people it never hurts to make copies of each individuals passports. You will also need your passport to check into your hotel, and if you plan on renting a car you’ll need it and your up-to-date drivers license. Also keep your insurance card and contact info. Make Copies of this as it may come in handy. Medical care in costa rica is nationalized, but it may come in use.

Toiletries: Some areas are more remote then others, so if you want to make absolutely sure you will have everything you need go ahead and pack it before hand. Bring a razor, antiperspirant, extra light weight towels, washcloths, and girls need to bring tampons. If you have contacts, bring an extra pair, your glasses, and plenty of contact solution. This is very important because things like tampons and contact materials ARE NOT common in every grocery store. It also never hurts to have a small First Aid Kit. Who knows where your adventure may take you and what may happen.

Maps: Maps and translation books should be brought with you and kept every where you go. You may get lost, and may not speak much Spanish- so what do you do? You pull out your maps and open your English/Spanish Dictionary, and hopefully you will be able to figure something out.
